Coniacian GSSP ratified by IUGS

The GSSP proposal to formalize the base of the Coniacian Stage at at the first appearance datum (FAD) of the inoceramid bivalve Cremnoceramus deformis erectus in the Salzgitter-Salder Quarry section in Lower Saxony, Germany was unanimously approved by the IUGS Executive Committee on May 2021.
