AUTHORIZATION TO COLLECT SAMPLES on the Valanginian, Hauterivian, and Albian GSSPs
The Drôme Department and the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park have introduced new procedures to protect the three Cretaceous GSSPs in their care, while continuing to allow free access for study and sampling by the international scientific community. A “prefectural decree” (“Arrêté préfectoral”) is now in place to protect these sites.
It is mandatory to submit an application and obtain prior authorization from the Drôme Department to collect rock and fossil samples from the Montbrun-les-Bains, La Charce, Arnayon sites. Permission will be formally communicated to applicants through a prefectural order.
